What hot tub removal includes

An old hot tub is one of the hardest things to get rid of yourself. It is heavy, it is wide, it usually sits behind the house, and no trash service will take it. We take it out and haul it off. The job covers:

  • The spa shell, cabinet and frame
  • The cover, steps and any loose surround panels
  • Pumps, heaters and other parts inside the cabinet
  • Cutting the tub into pieces on site when it will not fit through the gate or side yard in one piece
  • Loading, hauling and disposal
  • Sweep-up of the pad or patio where it sat

Electrical disconnect: arrange it before we come

Most hot tubs are hardwired to the house. Rapid Haul does not do electrical work of any kind. Before the crew arrives, you, as the owner, need to have an electrician shut off the circuit and disconnect the tub. In Florida, that is a job for a properly qualified electrician, not a hauler.

Once the power is disconnected, tell Dany. If the crew shows up and the tub is still wired, we cannot start, so this one step matters. If you are not sure whether your tub is hardwired or plugs in, send Dany a photo of the equipment panel and the wiring and he will tell you what to ask the electrician for.

Drain it the day before

Drain the water before removal day. A full hot tub holds hundreds of gallons, and the crew cannot carry or cut it until it is empty. Most tubs have a drain valve or you can use a submersible pump. Let it sit open for a day so the inside dries a bit.

If the tub has been sitting full and unused for a while, warn Dany. Old water and a soaked cover are heavier than they look, and the price should reflect it.

How Dany prices a hot tub removal

There is no one-size price for hot tubs because the job changes so much from yard to yard. Send Dany photos of the tub, the path from the tub to the street, and any gate it needs to pass through. He gives you one flat price that includes labor, any cutting, loading, hauling and disposal.

What moves the number: size (a two-person tub versus a large family spa), whether it is set into a deck or sitting free on a pad, a narrow side yard or a locked gate, stairs or a raised deck, and how far the truck has to park from the tub. A portable inflatable spa is a quick pickup. A large hardshell tub sunk into a wood deck is a bigger job.

Hot tub removal is paid after the job. If the price comes to $1,000 or more, for example when a deck tear-out is part of it, Dany may ask for a 50% deposit and tells you that with the quote.

Decks, pads and what stays behind

We remove the tub. The concrete pad it sat on stays unless you ask for it to go, and so does the electrical disconnect your electrician left. If the tub is built into a wood deck and you want the deck gone too, that is deck tear-out, and Dany can price both as one job.

In HOA communities, check whether the association wants notice before work in the backyard or has rules about trucks on the street. A tub removal is usually done in one visit.

Why people finally get rid of the tub

Most hot tubs we see stopped working years ago. The heater went out, the cover cracked, and in South Florida's summer nobody missed a hot soak anyway. Now it takes up the best spot on the patio, collects rainwater and leaves, and it is in the way of the pool deck, the new patio or the house sale.

Getting it out is mostly a planning job. Book the electrician, drain the water, text Dany the photos, and pick a day. Dany answers his own phone Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM, and the crew handles everything from the cut to the sweep-up. Since 2025, Rapid Haul has done 250 jobs across Broward and Miami-Dade, and the same crew also tears out decks and sheds.

How the job runs, step by step

  1. Step 1

Confirm power off and water out

The crew checks that your electrician has disconnected the tub and that it is drained before any work starts.

  2. Step 2

Break it down or move it whole

If the tub fits through the gate, it goes out whole. If not, the crew cuts it into sections right where it sits.

  3. Step 3

    Carry out and haul away

Every piece is carried to the truck and hauled to proper disposal, included in the price.

  4. Step 4

    Sweep the pad

We pick up the debris and sweep the pad or patio. You look it over, then pay.

Hot Tub Removal: common questions

Something else on your mind? Call (754) 249-1015.

How much does it cost to remove an old hot tub?

It depends on the tub size, how it is installed and how hard it is to get out. Send Dany photos of the tub and the path to the street for a flat, all-in price.

Is it hard to get rid of a hot tub?

It is hard to do yourself: they are heavy, wide and often behind a gate. With a crew it is usually one visit.

Do you disconnect the electrical?

No. Rapid Haul does not do electrical work. The owner arranges for an electrician to disconnect the tub before we come.

Do I need to drain the hot tub first?

Yes. Drain it the day before so it is empty and lighter when the crew arrives.

Will you remove the concrete pad too?

Only if you ask. Concrete removal is a separate tear-out job that Dany can price with the tub.

When do I pay?

After the job. Jobs of $1,000 or more may take a 50% deposit, which Dany tells you up front.
