West Park bulk pickup changed hands in July 2026

West Park's Public Works Department oversees residential garbage and bulk collection, and the service itself is provided by Waste Management. WM took over garbage, recycling and bulk on July 1, 2026. Before that it was Waste Pro, so older notices that tell you to call Waste Pro are out of date.

If you missed your bulk date and want a special pickup, the city says to call WM at 954-615-4050, and a pickup charge applies. For your bulk schedule and the current rules on size and what is taken, WM is also the place to ask. The city has not published those rules in anything we could read, so we won't guess at them here.

Garbage and recycling carts have their own city ordinance: no more than 12 hours before pickup day, and back in within 24 hours after. Violations start with a courtesy notice and go to $250 and $500 citations.

Where Rapid Haul fits: the pile that can't wait for bulk day, the special pickup you'd rather not pay twice for, or a load nobody wants sitting on the swale. Dany takes it the same day when you call early, for one flat price.

West Park has its own county drop-off center

Unlike most of Broward, West Park residents have a county drop-off inside city limits. West Park participates in the county program for both bulk and yard waste and household hazardous waste, and the South Drop-Off Center at 5601 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd. is in town. The Central center in Davie and the North center in Pompano Beach are also open to you. All three run Saturdays only, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with photo ID plus a document showing your address.

The bulk side takes furniture, appliances and yard waste, up to four visits a month. It does not take garbage, propane tanks or tires on that side. The hazardous waste side takes paint, chemicals, batteries, propane tanks, up to five tires per load and electronics. Vehicles bigger than a 1-ton pickup, truck beds over 8 feet long or 6 feet wide, commercial vehicles and trailers over 8 feet are turned away.

So a small load with your own pickup on a Saturday is a real option here. A full house, a heavy load, or a weekday job is where a hauler makes sense.

Tear-outs and permits in West Park

Demolition and building permits are issued by the City of West Park Building Department at City Hall, 1965 S. State Road 7. Permit and inspection services are provided by CAP Government, Inc. Applications need the Broward County Uniform Building Permit Application and a Notice of Commencement, submitted online through Citizenserve. No cash is accepted.

Your GC or you as the owner pull the permit. Rapid Haul does non-structural tear-out (cabinets, tile, flooring, fixtures, decks, fences) and the haul. Remodel debris that originates in Broward can go to the Broward County Landfill in Southwest Ranches, which accepts bulk, yard trash and construction debris. Room tear-out starts at $750, and debris pickups start at $200.

Close-knit neighborhoods, full households

West Park became a city on March 1, 2005, formed from neighborhoods that had been unincorporated: Carver Ranches, Lake Forest, Miami Gardens (the Broward one) and Utopia. It covers about 2.2 square miles. Households here are large, about 3.38 people each, and 63.8% of homes are owner-occupied, with a median value around $340,600 (Census, 2020 to 2024).

Bigger households mean more furniture, more appliances and fuller garages. The common calls are a garage that needs clearing, furniture swapped out, and a whole house emptied for a sale or new tenants.

Pricing and same-day from Hollywood

Hollywood, Rapid Haul's home base, is West Park's northern neighbor. Text a photo to (754) 249-1015 and Dany sends one flat price covering labor, loading, hauling and disposal. Call early and same-day is often possible, Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM. Junk removal is paid after the job.
