What Miami-Dade's bulky pickup takes in Aventura, and where it stops

Aventura does not run its own trash service. Miami-Dade County's Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) names Aventura as one of ten cities it collects for, and the city's website has no solid waste page of its own. So the county's bulky waste rules are the ones that apply here.

Under the county's 2025 Waste Service Guide, each household gets two scheduled bulky pickups per calendar year of up to 25 cubic yards each, and the two can be combined into one pickup of up to 50 cubic yards. Excess bulky waste collected with your authorization costs $31 per cubic yard, per the 2025 guide. You book through 311 or miamidade.gov/bulkywaste before anything goes to the curb. The guide also sets these limits:

• No home chemicals, rock or dirt at the curb
• No single item heavier than 150 lbs
• No more than three cubic yards of construction and demolition debris
• Refrigerators and freezers need the doors removed
• Tree limbs no longer than five feet
• Piles at least five feet from cars, fences, mailboxes and drains

Remodel tear-outs and permits in Aventura

Building permits here come from the City of Aventura Building Division, which handles permits for new construction and renovations and takes applications online through eTRAKiT. The city's permit page does not spell out demolition rules, so ask the division what your job needs. Your general contractor, or you as the owner, pulls the permit. Rapid Haul does not.

What Dany does is the non-structural tear-out and the haul: cabinets, counters, vanities, tile, carpet, flooring and drywall that is coming out anyway. Never anything that holds up the building. Room demo starts at $750. If your remodel crew already did the demo, Debris Hauling picks up the pile from $200.

This matters in Aventura because the county takes no more than three cubic yards of construction and demolition debris at the curb, and its Trash and Recycling Centers take up to three cubic yards per visit. One bathroom gut can go past it. A hauler that loads straight from the unit avoids the problem.

Condo towers, Turnberry and the units in between

Aventura covers about 3.2 square miles and had 40,242 people in the 2020 Census. It is known for high-rise condominiums near the beach and the residential towers around the Turnberry golf course, with Country Club Drive as one of its named areas. The 2020 Census counted 26,469 housing units, and 64.5% of homes are owner-occupied.

In a tower, the building sets the rules, not the county. Whether a given Aventura building is on county or private trash service is not published, and neither is whether condo units can book county bulky pickups. Start with your building management and ask about:

• Service elevator booking and any wall or floor padding required
• Loading area hours and where the truck can stand
• A certificate of insurance, if management asks for one
• Quiet hours for tear-out work

Dropping it off yourself versus booking a pickup

As DSWM customers, Aventura households can use the county's Trash and Recycling Centers, open 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily except holidays. They take household trash, tree and yard cuttings, up to three cubic yards of construction and demolition debris and up to four tires per visit. The nearest by address are Golden Glades at 140 NW 160 St., which also takes used motor oil and electronics, and Norwood at 19901 NW 7 Ave., which does not take white goods.

Oversized vehicles are turned away, including trailers larger than 10 by 6 by 6 feet. For a sofa or two that is fine. For a full unit, a heavy dresser down a service elevator or a gutted kitchen, most people would rather send Dany a photo than make several trips.

How pricing and same-day work in Aventura
