Two companies, one city: how Cooper City collects bulk

Cooper City splits its service between two private companies. Garbage and recycling go to Coastal Waste & Recycling. Bulk is handled separately, once a month, by Eastern Waste Systems (EWS). The city's 2026 Bulk Waste Collection Schedule sets each home's bulk date based on its regular service day, and the city describes bulk as oversized household items that do not fit in the standard carts.

That split catches people out. A missed bulk pickup is not a Coastal problem: the city says all bulk questions and missed-pickup calls go to EWS at 954-543-9800 or [email protected]. The cart rules are strict too:

  • Only City-provided carts are collected
  • Anything left outside the cart or on top of it will not be collected
  • Carts go out by 7 a.m. on pickup day
  • Bulk comes monthly, on the date the 2026 schedule gives your service day

Why the monthly bulk date is not always enough

Once a month works for a broken chair. It does not work when you are listing the house next week, closing on a move, or clearing a garage before a family visit. The city does not publish a bulk volume limit or a set-out window that we could verify, so call EWS before you build a big pile.

There is also no county fallback. Cooper City's own household hazardous waste page says its residents are not allowed to dispose of items at any Broward County disposal locations. The city runs its own monthly drop-off for household hazardous waste and electronics, with proof of residency required, but a city bulk drop-off site is not published.

So when the timing matters, the answer is a hauler. Dany's crew carries everything out of the garage or house, loads it and takes it away the same visit. Nothing sits at the curb waiting for the next EWS date.

Dany's Saturday garage pickup before a showing

One of Dany's posted jobs, tagged Cooper City on Instagram in May 2026, was a Saturday garage pickup for a homeowner who, in his words from the video, said that they had a showing tomorrow. That is a common Cooper City call: a house going on the market, the garage full, and the next bulk date weeks away. Garage cleanouts start at $300.

Illustration: the kind of homes in this area04

Owner-occupied single-family homes from the late 1980s

Cooper City is a suburb of mostly owner-occupied houses. Census estimates for 2020 to 2024 count 11,565 housing units, 85.9% owner-occupied, with a median year built of 1987. About 75.2% are single-family detached homes and 15.7% single-family attached; only 2.5% are in buildings of 20 or more units. The city borders Davie to the north and east, Pembroke Pines to the south, Hollywood to the east and Southwest Ranches to the west.

In houses of that age, the jobs worth pricing include garages and attics with years of storage, original kitchens and bathrooms coming out in a remodel, and backyard sheds and decks at the end of their life. Rapid Haul handles each of those.

Remodel tear-outs and permits in Cooper City

Permits come from the Cooper City Building Division in the Community Development Department, at City Hall, 9090 SW 50 Place (954-434-4300, [email protected]). It administers construction regulations under the Florida Building Code, and permits are submitted electronically. A demolition-specific form is not something we could verify, so ask the division what your tear-out needs.

Your general contractor or you as the owner pulls the permit. Rapid Haul does not. What Dany does is the non-structural tear-out and the haul: kitchen cabinets and counters, vanities, tile, flooring and drywall, plus sheds and wood decks outside. Never anything that holds up the house. Room demo starts at $750, shed removal at $350, deck demo at $550, and hauling a pile your remodel crew left starts at $200.

How pricing and same-day work from Hollywood

Rapid Haul is based in Hollywood, right next door, and Broward is Dany's main service area. Text a photo to (754) 249-1015. Dany answers himself and sends back one flat, all-in price covering labor, loading, hauling and disposal. Same-day pickup is often possible when you call early, Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM. Junk removal is paid after the job; jobs of $1,000 and over take a 50% deposit. Furniture removal starts at $125, appliance removal at $100 and full house cleanouts at $1,000.

Cooper City: common questions

Something else on your mind? Call (754) 249-1015.

Who picks up bulk trash in Cooper City?

Eastern Waste Systems, once a month, on the date the city's 2026 schedule sets for your service day. Garbage and recycling are a different company, Coastal Waste & Recycling.

Who do I call about a missed bulk pickup?

The city says to call EWS at 954-543-9800 or email [email protected], not the garbage company.

Can I take junk to a Broward County drop-off center?

No. Cooper City's household hazardous waste page says its residents are not allowed to dispose of items at any Broward County disposal locations.

Can you clear my garage before a showing?

Usually, yes. Call or text early and same-day is often possible, Monday to Saturday. Garage cleanouts start at $300, priced from a photo.

Who pulls the permit for a kitchen tear-out?

Your general contractor or you as the owner, through the Cooper City Building Division. Rapid Haul does the non-structural tear-out and hauling only.
