01Tamarac's bulk pickup: weekly for houses, monthly for condos
Bulk questions in Tamarac go to Waste Management at (954) 974-7500, and the city's Public Services Department at (954) 597-3750. How often your bulk goes depends on where you live. Single-family homes get weekly bulk, on a day that varies by community. Condominiums get bulk once a month on the city's 2026 schedule, and the city tells condo residents to contact property management before setting anything out.
There is a weekly cap. The city FAQ limits residents to no more than 3 cubic yards of bulk trash and yard waste combined each week. For more than 3 cubic yards, or for unbundled material, you must call Waste Management first to make special arrangements, or it may not be collected. Tree trimmings, branches, lumber, carpeting and metal poles must be cut to 4 feet or shorter and tied in bundles of 40 pounds or less.
02Condos, villas and senior communities
Tamarac was built in the early 1960s by developer Ken Behring as an active adult community of two-bedroom, maintenance-free homes, and it still shows. Census figures put owner-occupancy at 76.2%, residents 65 and older at 25.9%, and the median owner-occupied home at $288,600. Kings Point describes itself as an active senior community of 4,869 condominiums, villas and coach homes in 13 neighborhoods.
That points to downsizing and estate cleanouts: a lifetime of furniture leaving a two-bedroom villa, or a condo emptied before it is sold. With monthly condo bulk and a weekly cap on houses, a whole apartment of furniture does not fit the city's schedule.
Dany carries everything out from the unit, so nobody in the family has to lift a sofa down a walkway. Tell him about your building's rules when you text, and he will work around property management. Furniture removal starts at $125, and house cleanouts at $1,000.

03What the city will not take
Tamarac does not collect construction materials like roof shingles, tile, sheetrock and concrete, and residents must dispose of them legally. It also refuses commercially generated waste, including debris left by landscapers or contractors.
Tamarac is not on Broward County's list of cities that can use the county's residential drop-off centers for bulk, yard waste or household hazardous waste, and no city bulk drop-off site is published. For paint, chemicals and electronics, the city runs drop-off events with Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale and other nearby cities, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with proof of residence. The remaining 2026 dates are November 21 in Fort Lauderdale and December 5 at 6011 Nob Hill Road in Tamarac. Those events do not take furniture, appliances or general debris.
04Tear-outs and Tamarac demolition permits
The City of Tamarac Building Department, at 7525 NW 88th Avenue, has separate pages for demolition of an entire building and for interior or exterior alteration demolition. Its procedure lists three kinds of demolition permit: full, partial and exploratory. Full demolition permits are pulled by general contractors or holders of a Broward County specialty license in demolition or engineering, and partial demolition that removes any structural members needs a shoring plan.
Rapid Haul does not pull permits and does not remove structural members. The GC or the property owner pulls the permit, and Dany does the non-structural tear-out (kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, drywall) and hauls the debris, which the city will not take at the curb anyway. Room demo starts at $750 and construction debris hauling at $200.
Named areas in Tamarac include Tamarac Lakes, the Mainlands of Tamarac Lakes, The Woodlands, where the city says a new single-family community is planned, and Kings Point.
