What Weston's bulk day will and will not take from a shed

The stuff inside a shed is mostly bulk-friendly. Weston's quarterly bulk, collected by Republic Services, takes furniture, large household items and appliances, and homeowner-generated vegetative waste. The shed itself is harder. Once it is torn down, the panels, framing and floor are tear-out debris, and the City says bulk does not include contractor-generated material.

Timing is the other problem. Bulk only runs in January, April, July and October, on one day per section. A shed that came down crooked after a storm in August either sits until October or gets hauled.

Rapid Haul takes the contents and the building in the same visit, carries every piece to the truck, and leaves the ground clear.

Permits, the City's hauler, and Rapid Haul's limits

Weston's Building Code Services Department handles building permits, plan review and inspections, at 17250 Royal Palm Boulevard, phone 954-385-0500, through the City's ePermits portal. The City lists its permit types on its permitting services page. If your shed or detached garage needs a permit to come down, the property owner or general contractor pulls it. Dany does not pull permits.

The City's fee schedule calls Republic Services its exclusive Solid Waste Contractor. If the removal is part of a permitted project, ask the City or your GC whether that affects who hauls the debris. Dany will tell you what applies before you book.

Rapid Haul does non-structural tear-out of standalone buildings only. Anything sharing a wall or roof with the house stays. Power or water to the shed must be disconnected by an electrician or plumber first.

Weston backyards and the sheds in them

Weston is a master-planned city, developed mostly by Arvida as Indian Trace starting in the 1980s, and its western edge sits next to the Everglades. When a shed sits in a fenced back corner behind a side gate, that gate is the narrowest point of the job, so the crew breaks the shed into pieces that fit through it.

Metal and resin sheds age fast in Florida weather: rusted roof seams, cracked resin panels, doors that no longer close. Wood sheds rot from the floor up. Whatever the type, if it stands on its own, Dany can price it from photos.

What shed removal costs in Weston

Shed removal starts at $350. The flat price covers tear-down, carrying, loading, hauling and disposal. Send three photos: outside, inside with the door open, and the path from the shed to the street.

The contents can be added to the same price. A wood floor on blocks lifts out; a concrete pad is priced separately if you want it gone. Narrow gates and long carries add time. Detached garages are priced after Dany sees them, and jobs of $1,000 and over take a 50% deposit.

When the shed is gone

If anything is left inside that you want to keep, like a mower or tools, say so at the start. The crew sets those aside before the walls come down, then loads everything else.

The crew rakes the spot for screws, glass and metal scraps, and you get a flat patch of ground or a bare pad. If a new shed is going in, it is ready for the installer. Weston is one of Dany's five busiest cities, and he answers his own phone Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM.
