What Waste Pro bulk pickup takes in Royal Palm Beach

The Village partners with Waste Pro for garbage and recycling. Village code defines bulk trash as non-vegetative items that cannot be bagged or bundled: refrigerators, ranges, toilets, washers, dryers, bathtubs, water heaters, sinks, bicycles, furniture, household goods, large boxes, barrels and crates. It cannot be mixed with yard waste.

Bulk goes out on the same day as one of your regular trash days. If an item is too big for the truck, the collector tags it and removes it by special pickup by 6 p.m. the next day, at no extra charge.

What the code leaves out is the part that matters for a project. The collector is not responsible for waste from clearing property for building, waste from landscape maintenance companies, or illegally dumped debris. The yard trash definition also excludes waste from tree removal, land clearing, building demolition and home improvement. So the old couch can go to the curb. The bathroom tear-out cannot.

Yard waste rules in a Tree City village

Royal Palm Beach has been a Tree City USA since 1990, and the whole village is a designated bird sanctuary. That means a lot of trees, and a lot of trimming. Village code sets the rules for it:

  • Vegetative waste is collected at least once a week
  • Large pieces no more than 6 feet long or 50 pounds, placed neatly at the curb
  • Piles larger than 6 yards are tagged and picked up by 5 p.m. the next business day
  • Waste from landscape maintenance companies does not have to be collected
  • Collection runs 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with no collection on Sundays or holidays except emergencies
  • Removing trees can need a separate Village Vegetation Removal Permit

The transfer station inside the village

The Solid Waste Authority's West Central Transfer Station and Home Chemical and Recycling Center sits at 9743 Weisman Way, inside Royal Palm Beach. It is open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed Sunday (561-697-2700). Anyone can haul waste there directly; loads are weighed and charged a tipping fee.

The Home Chemical and Recycling Center on the same site is self-service and free for Palm Beach County residents. Old paint, pool chemicals and similar leftovers from a garage cleanout can go there.

Tear-outs and permits in Royal Palm Beach

Permits come from the Village of Royal Palm Beach Building Division, at (561) 790-5128. Its rules page says most work in the village requires a building permit. The resident and contractor permit form finders list demolition categories, including single-family and multi-family demolition, and the village homepage links a building permit application portal.

Your general contractor or you as the owner pulls the permit. Rapid Haul does not. Dany's crew handles the non-structural tear-out and the haul: kitchen cabinets, bathroom fixtures, flooring and drywall out, loaded and taken away. Since village collection excludes demolition and home-improvement debris, the haul-off has to be arranged anyway.

Neighborhoods and the homes in them

Royal Palm Beach was incorporated in 1959, about 15 miles inland, on former swamp. It started with the Colony section and its early two-bedroom, one-bath model homes, then grew into the Willows and LaMancha, and grew fast after a 1979 push to builders. Other neighborhoods include Counterpoint Estates, Madison Green and Cypress Trails. In 2020 it had 14,296 housing units, and 80.1% of homes are owner-occupied, mostly by married-couple families.

The older Colony homes are where kitchen and bathroom tear-outs come up. Family homes across the village fill garages and sheds. Wellington lies to the south, Loxahatchee Groves to the west and The Acreage to the north.

How a Royal Palm Beach job is priced and booked

Rapid Haul is based in Hollywood and works Broward and Miami-Dade every day. Palm Beach County is by request, when the job is worth the drive. So send photos to (754) 249-1015 first. Dany will tell you honestly whether the trip makes sense and give you one flat price covering labor, loading, hauling and disposal. There is no same-day promise this far north; you pick a day together.

Bigger jobs are the ones that usually make the drive work: full house cleanouts from $1,000, shed removal from $350, deck demo from $550 and room demo from $750. Jobs of $1,000 and over take a 50% deposit. Rapid Haul carries $1M general liability insurance.

Royal Palm Beach: common questions

Something else on your mind? Call (754) 249-1015.

Do you come to Royal Palm Beach?

By request, when the job is worth the drive from Hollywood. Text Dany photos and he'll tell you yes or no, with a flat price if it's a yes.

Will Waste Pro take my remodel debris?

Village code excludes debris from building demolition and home improvement from yard trash, and the collector does not have to take land-clearing waste. Plan a separate haul-off for tear-out debris.

My yard pile is huge. Will the village still take it?

Piles over 6 yards get tagged and picked up by 5 p.m. the next business day. Waste generated by a landscaping company does not have to be collected, so a crew's pile is the crew's to haul.

Where can I drop off household chemicals?

At the SWA Home Chemical and Recycling Center, 9743 Weisman Way. It is free for Palm Beach County residents and open weekdays and Saturday mornings.

Can you come the same day?

Not as a promise in Palm Beach County. Send photos, get the price, and pick a day with Dany. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM.
