Loxahatchee Groves pickup and its limits

The Town of Loxahatchee Groves contracts Coastal Waste and Recycling for garbage, recycling, bulk and vegetation. It is not part of the Solid Waste Authority's unincorporated service; SWA lists the Town itself as the contact. Collection runs Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday depending on your zone, and everything has to be out by 7 a.m. Garbage goes in the Town cart, and bags left outside it stay there.

The contract allows weekly collection of vegetation and bulk for each assessed home. Vegetation is capped at 6 cubic yards, and limbs (other than palm fronds) can be no more than 6 inches across, 6 feet long or 50 pounds. Coastal will tag a pile for:

• Small loose vegetation that is not bagged or containerized
• More than 2 passenger tires a year
• Commercial-generated, non-residential material
• Household hazardous waste or other non-collectible material

When the pile is bigger than the contract

Tagged piles must be gone before your next pickup. For an oversized pile, you can trim it down or have Coastal take the excess, charged at $8 per cubic yard under the Town's Solid Waste Contract. That works for a big trim-up. It does not work for clearing a lot, taking down a run of old fence or emptying a barn.

Big lots, horses and dirt roads

The Town describes its own character as an equestrian and agricultural lifestyle, with horses, livestock and farming at its center and large lots, open space and natural vegetation kept on purpose. A county neighborhood plan mentions 37 miles of dirt roads and large acreage sites, and a Town legislative packet says it remains far more heavily wooded than most of Palm Beach County. The Town's permit list even includes a stable and manure bin permit.

Storms have hit hard too: an EF3 tornado from Hurricane Milton on October 9, 2024, and an EF-0 tornado in May 2025. So the jobs here run to lot clearing, storm and yard debris, old sheds, barns and fencing. Tell Dany about the road and the gate when you send photos, so the crew comes ready for the access.

Permits stay in town

The Town of Loxahatchee Groves Building Department, at 155 F Road, handles registrations and permits only through the MGO portal, since January 13, 2025. The Town says permits, plan review and inspections are processed fully by the Town, with no resubmission to Palm Beach County. Its permit packages include a Demolition Application, and its forms include an Asbestos Notification.

Your GC or you as the owner pull the permit before a barn, stable or shed comes down. Rapid Haul does the non-structural tear-out and the haul-away, and does not pull permits.

How a job out here gets booked

Rapid Haul is based in Hollywood. Broward and Miami-Dade are the main area, and Palm Beach County is by request, when the job is worth the drive. A full lot, a barn cleanout or a big fence tear-out usually is. Send photos to (754) 249-1015, and Dany will tell you whether and when he can do it, then give you one flat price for labor, loading, hauling and disposal. Junk removal is paid after the job; jobs of $1,000 and over, mostly demolition, take a 50% deposit.

To haul small loads yourself, the closest SWA site is the West Central Transfer Station and Home Chemical and Recycling Center at 9743 Weisman Way in Royal Palm Beach, open weekdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
