What the Village of Golf picks up, and what it leaves to you

Golf collects its own household refuse. The Village refuse page says household trash is collected every Tuesday and Friday morning, in strong plastic bags at the end of the driveway by 9:00 a.m.

The same page is clear about what the Village does not pick up. Construction debris from any remodel, small or large, is the homeowner's responsibility. Contractors must remove all job waste and cannot leave it out for Village pickup. The Village names roof shingles, paint, screening, patio stones, tile and carpet. Lawn clippings and landscape trimmings are also the homeowner's job, or the lawn service's if you use one.

Bulk furniture rules for Golf are not published online. The Village has told residents to call Village Hall at 561-732-0236 for bulk set-out instructions and days. If you have more than a few pieces, or a whole house to clear, a private haul is the simpler route.

Remodels, tear-outs and permits in Golf

Building permits in Golf come from the Village itself, at Village Hall, 21 Country Road, through its online permitting portal. The Village says permits are required for construction work involving a structural penetration of the building shell, and for work such as roof repair, paving and fencing. It also asks you to know the date and time restrictions for your project. Your GC or you as the owner pull the permit. Rapid Haul does not.

Rapid Haul does the non-structural tear-out and the haul: old tile, carpet, cabinets and fixtures inside, and pool decks, patio pavers and fences outside. That is exactly the debris the Village says it will not collect. Rapid Haul also hauls roofing debris after a roofer has done the tear-off, but does not tear off roofs.

A village built around a golf course

The Village of Golf covers about 542 acres between Congress Avenue and Military Trail near Boynton Beach. It is centered on the Country Club of Florida, which opened in 1956 on a former dairy farm, and the village incorporated in 1957. It also holds two agricultural areas, including a horse farm.

It is small: 255 residents in the 2020 Census, in about 124 households. That is why so little is published about bulk rules. Homes here sit on a golf course, so the jobs that come up are patio and pool deck tear-outs, interior remodels and estate-style cleanouts rather than curbside piles.
