01Tequesta's Wednesday bulk day
Tequesta's garbage, yard waste and recycling for single-family homes are handled by Waste Management under a Village franchise, with separate pickup service for multi-family buildings. Garbage goes in automated carts twice a week, Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday depending on your zone, and nothing outside the cart is collected: no extra bags, no customer-owned containers.
Bulk covers furniture, appliances and items too big for the cart. It is collected once a week, on Wednesday for the whole village, and must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. Keep it separate from yard waste. For larger items, the Village says to call Waste Management at 772-546-7700 to make arrangements. There is no collection on Thanksgiving or Christmas.
The Village does not publish a size limit for bulk or a list of excluded items such as construction debris, so ask WM before you put a remodel pile out. Paint, batteries, electronics and pool chemicals never go in the bulk pile; the Village sends those to Waste Management directly.
02From retirement golf community to today
Tequesta was first developed as a retirement golf community. Developer Charlie Martyn built the Tequesta Country Club on 350 acres with 600 home sites, the Country Club community grew fast in the 1960s, and new multi-family developments followed in the 1990s. Today 80.2% of homes are owner-occupied, the median owner-occupied value is $572,800, and 31.1% of residents are 65 or older.
That profile means a lot of long-held homes, and the jobs that come with them: downsizing before a move, clearing a parent's house, or emptying a home for sale. House cleanouts start at $1,000, furniture removal at $125 and appliance removal at $100. Mark what stays and the crew works around it.

03Interior demolition and the HOA approval rule
Permits come from the Village of Tequesta Building Department at 345 Tequesta Drive (561-768-0450, [email protected]), with applications online. The Village publishes separate requirements for full and interior demolition.
For an interior demolition, it asks for a dimensioned floor plan, and for any property in an HOA, written HOA approval is required before the permit is issued. For a full demolition, it lists a survey showing the area to be demolished with silt fence and debris control, an asbestos notification, the state DEP Notice of Demolition form, and an extermination certificate, and a pre-demo inspection is required.
The GC or the property owner pulls the permit; Rapid Haul does not. Rapid Haul does the non-structural tear-out (an older kitchen or bathroom, carpet, closets) and hauls it all away. Room demo starts at $750, and jobs of $1,000 and over take a 50% deposit.
04Riverfront and Intracoastal neighborhoods
The Village is bounded by the Loxahatchee River and its northwest fork, the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, and parts of it lie on Jupiter Island. Martin County is to the north, and the Town of Jupiter and Jupiter Inlet Colony are to the south. The Village zoning map names subdivisions including the Tequesta Country Club area, Jupiter in the Pines, Tequesta Gardens and Waterway Village.

05Booking a Tequesta job
Rapid Haul is based in Hollywood. Broward and Miami-Dade are the main service area, and Palm Beach County is by request, when the job is worth the drive. A full estate or downsizing cleanout usually is. Text photos to (754) 249-1015. Dany answers himself, tells you whether and when he can do it, and quotes one flat, all-in price covering labor, loading, hauling and disposal. Junk removal is paid after the job.
All solid waste collected in Palm Beach County has to go to facilities the Solid Waste Authority designates, so disposal goes through SWA. The nearest SWA site is the North County Transfer Station and Home Chemical & Recycling Center at 14185 N Military Trail in Jupiter, where home chemicals are free for county residents.
